The HU : Gereg

When The HU have released their first two singles a year ago, they became a sensation overnight; an unavoidable phenomena in the metal scene. And rightfully so. I mean, a metal band from Mongolia who not only have the balls to enter the international stage singing in their native language and use traditional instruments (and yes, I consider throat singing to be an instrument in this case) but also to conjure historical images of the Great Genghis and to be openly nationalists (although it shall be noted in a mostly inward facing manner) with a bold face? You just had to appreciate them.

I wouldn't be able to tell you what sort of music this band plays. I guess it's bluegrass, but quite frankly their style has changed a lot across albums. Hell, it's a small miracle that the band still exists considering the rather storied friendship of the members moving all over the US and whatnot.

To me it's feel-good music - the kind that makes you tap your feet. It's compounded by lyrics that are somewhat sorrow - imagine saying all be damned we'll have fun anyway.

Anyway, I'm not a writer for the Rolling Stone magazine. Have a listen and decide for yourself.

Metallica - Through the Never

A Metallica 2013-ban úgy döntött, meglovagolja a 3D-film divathullámot, és készít egy formabontó koncertfilmet, ez lett a Through the Never.
Formabontó, hiszen egyfelől koncertfilm, másfelől egy roadie szürreális története lazán felfúzve a koncerten előadott dalok folyamára. És ez fontos. Fontos, mert ez nem csupán egy mesterien összerakott koncertfilm a metal isteneitől, de szimbólumok és szimbolikus ábrázolások valóságos orgiája - nyilván elsősorban rajongóknak, hiszen az utalások teljes megértéséhez nem árt tisztában lenni a zenekar 30 éves munkásságával.

Otherwise

Két éve akarom ajánlani ezt a bandát, mikor véletlenül belefutottunk egy előzenekarként adott koncertjükbe. A 2006-os első albumukat követő második 2012-ben jött ki, akkoriban kezdtek először belekóstolni a sikerbe, de nem tudtam, hogy lesz-e folytatás. Lett, a tavaly szeptemberben megjelent Peace at All Costs épp olyan kiváló, mint az Enjoy the Pain volt.

Oszinten szolva - bar szivesen hallgatok Nickelbacket - mindig kicsit falsnak ereztem ezt a zenekart. Mint amikor tinik probalnak komor felnottnek latszani, sosem tudtam elhesegetni az erzest, hogy az egesz, a megjelenes es a zene is, valahogy "kemeny rockbanda imitalas". Viszont jo hallgatni oket, szoval szamit ez egyaltalan?

Depresszio

Nem csak szimpla nosztalgia vezet, amikor ugy dontok, hogy a Depresszio megerdemli, hogy ide keruljon. Ezt a szamot tegnap hallottam eloszor, es a zene meg mindig ugyanolyan frissnek, duhosnek es oszintenek hat, mint evekkel ezelott. A Depresszioban egyszeruen nem lehet csalodni, minden szam mashogy ugyanolyan, es mindegyik hozza a hatast. Ha rossz kedved van, garantaltan zorall hangulatba rak.

Mult hetvegen a camdeni piacon setalgatva botlottunk bele egy, az utcan epp nagyon jo zenet jatszo bandaba. 5 fontert a helyszinen vettem is egy sima papirtokos, filctollal megszignozott CD-t. Money friggin well spent.
